Aqua King Pools a swimming pool specialist based in Dorchester; Dorset contacted us to find a solution for his Client.  His brief was to refurbish their 10m x 4m unused irregular shaped swimming pool and to source a hard floor pool cover to maximise the use of the finished space in order to allow him to host piano recitals and dance events for friends and colleagues.

The Client was interested in purchasing rather than hiring a hard floor pool cover so that it could be stored at his property and used when required.  Pool-dek can be installed into a water filled swimming pool in a few hours, ready for an alternative use or event and easily removed after the event without the need to drain and refill the pool.  This makes it a very practical solution for a dual-purpose room.  Pool-dek can be stored on wheeled trolleys when not in use that fit easily into an existing garage or storage space.

After meeting the Client and swimming pool contractor we offered a viewing of a previous installation at the Haymarket Hotel in London.  The Client had enrolled the services of an Interior Designer and he wanted her to be involved in the process to make sure that the new Pool-dek panels were complimentary to the new interior design scheme of the overall pool room. The refurbishment work would take longer than expected due to the listing on parts of the building, taking in total over 2 years to complete.

The swimming pool layout was finalised and included a finished specification of a constant depth of 1.4m and an overall size of 8.8m x 4m, a hard floor pool cover with a light-oak 12mm parquet deck finish.

Works commenced on the swimming pool room refurbishment and when ready at the early stages of the refurbishment our team carried out a survey for the final checks.  Pool-dek was installed in less than a day and was covered with a protective covering whilst the rest of the pool room refurbishment was undertaken to the ceilings, windows, and flooring. The total refurbishment was completed 18 months later with pool-dek being in place in a water filled swimming pool during this time. there were no adverse effects to the swimming pool or the Pool-dek equipment when the protective sheeting was removed and the Pool-dek revealed and removed. The Client and pool contractor were very happy with the final overall result.
