In June 2024, a client approached Pool-dek with the aim of closing off their swimming pool while keeping the option for future reinstatement open. They were considering draining the pool and repurposing the area into a multifunctional leisure space.
The swimming pool, measuring 55m², was constructed from concrete with a tiled finish and featured a Roman end with integrated steps. Following a detailed consultation with one of our designers, we organised a site survey and provided a formal quotation for the client’s review. After careful consideration, the client selected our Pool-span system with a Sherwood Oak floor tile finish.
The result is a bespoke Pool-span floor that includes a floor hatch that was discreetly fitted into the floor tile pattern for ease of access under the pool. On this occasion, only the pool itself has been covered, creating a striking feature that mirrors the timber ceiling, perfectly complementing the existing materials in the room. The Pool-span design also ensures the swimming pool can be easily reinstated if needed in the future.
To complete the project, the perimeter edges of the new floor were precisely scribed into the pool walls and finished with vinyl tiles, adding a touch of luxury and refinement. The client is delighted with the transformation, which has delivered a stylish and functional space while preserving the pool’s potential for future use.
