Reduce Costs With a Pool Transformation

A common question regarding pools is “do I use it enough to warrant the extra costs?” If the answer is no, adding a hard floor cover can remove the majority of maintenance costs and create a multi-use room. Effective for both long term and short term, having a pool cover fitted doesn’t take a lot of time (in fact Pool-dek can be installed in just 1 day!). They can be made to fit seamlessly and can match your space with a range of different finishes.

There are a number of different solutions to reduce costs that suit most types of pool designs and budgets. These include, decreasing the temperature of your pool, using bigger filters, installing a salt generator and investing in a high-quality pool cover.

Here’s what a pool transformation can do for you, both long term and short term.

Short Term

Pools require products to keep them clean and hygienic. These include chemicals, filters and chlorine, which adds to your yearly expenses. Additionally, if you are not looking to maintain the pool yourself, adding a pool maintenance service means costs can quickly mount. Similarly, reheating the pool, time and time again can become quite costly on your energy bill. Although there are cheaper ways to heat a pool, adding a hard swimming pool cover removes the maintenance expense all together, while also adding to the square footage of your garden or pool room.

To have a hard floor cover fitted, you are not required to drain the pool. However, you may be asked to reduce the level by 100mm-300mm. This will be discussed during your onsite survey with us. This means you will not have to pay out for equipment to drain the pool fully.

Long Term

If you are a corporate events space such as a hotel, spa or retreat, a hard pool cover, like Pool-dek, can transform your swimming pool area into a multipurpose area. You will be able to reuse the space for parties or meetings, without having to permanently remove the pool.

Creating a multi-use space, by adding a hard pool cover, enables you to increase your offerings in the area where your pool normally would be. However, as it’s temporary, you will still be able to offer guests the swimming pool when required. A multi-use space is a great opportunity to generate profit from events which you did not have the space to hold before.

If you are a property owner and are thinking about removing your pool, but also looking to move in the next few years, why not consider a hard pool cover? An inground pool can add up to 15% to the value of your house. Having a temporary solution, such as Pool-dek, allows you to reuse the space in your garden or pool room without completely removing it. Therefore, continuing to add value to your property for when the time comes to sell.

We first approached Pool-dek (supplied by Stage Systems) for a unique opportunity at the summit of Victoria Peak on Hong Kong Island, one of the world’s most exclusive residential developments.

The ambition was to achieve a flexible landscape, to entertain large groups of family and friends, as well as enjoying the more intimate environment of the swimming pool. We developed a design which incorporated a hard floor pool cover to match the adjacent natural paving, and to celebrate the unique waterfront views towards Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour.

The Pool-dek team remained in communication throughout the project and provided great design, technical support, delivery and installation.
